Erosion due to Jet Blast is an ongoing problem faced by most airports in Australia and around the world. This is most critical as tecnology advances and aircraft become larger and more powerful with existing runways, taxiways, aprons and sealed shoulders not wide enough to provide blast protection. High velocity engine exhausts cause erosion to unbound surfaces flanking the runways, taxiways and aprons, which can make the strips unservicable.
